In God we trusted

As a Christian it is difficult to understand Atheism or even Agnosticism but my Christian faith prescribes that I not prosecute those who do not follow my faith; it teaches tolerance and if you will not open your minds and hearts to the ways of the Lord, so be it. I can only lead you to the light and hope that you will accept His word…If you refuse, I must accept your decision but I will not accept your intolerance; for that is the height of arrogance.

Turn your head if my icons offend, close your ears if my prayers and my praise are beyond your ken. The absence of these makes my world barren and my country defenseless. It seeks to rob us of our true identity, a nation under God.

None are so blind as those who will not see nor so deaf as those who will not hear. But what of those who lack tolerance for those who do? Are we doomed to fight the wars and shed our blood for those rigid souls who will accept only mirror images of themselves and their ways? Not I. My battle is here and with you. Our numbers reflect the will of God and the few shall not dictate our behavior and speech or remove God from the public place.

You were born into a country founded by believers and you are free to leave or live in peace. Each step along the way to the birth of this nation, from the Christian notion of self determination to the hard fought war to establish our freedom, the Lord’s blessing was invoked. With each victory or the smallest progress credit and glory belonged to the Lord and in thanks and recognition His name and His images are inscribed on the grave markers of those who died for the cause and on the buildings those who survived dedicated to His hand in our success and His presence in our Republic. It was the combined genius, faith and knowledge of clergy and lay people who pledged their lives for our liberty that laid the foundation for our Conservative principles. Hence this great nation was established on the core values held by men of faith who handed down civil law deciphered and condensed predominantly from Judea Christian scripture.

Charity is prescribed ecumenically and taught Biblically in Christianity and in the Jewish religion it is commanded. Is it the sole property of these and other religions that preach kindness and tolerance? In a word, yes. And it is in your charitable nature that the hope we hold out for you does not die within us. How dare you refuse to tolerate my existence yet demand that I tolerate your refusal to accept this country for what it is…a nation founded on Judea Christian principles by men of faith; I reject your validity.

My church is this great land…it is the Statuary Hall in the Capitol, it is the deck of an aircraft carrier on Easter morning, it is the trenches of World War One and the fox holes of World War Two, and the purple mountains’ majesty…We’ve said our last goodbyes and prayed that our loved ones return safely in all these places. We’ve opened our Congress sessions with a devout prayer and closed the coffins of heroes and patriots similarly, since the beginning of the Republic. America is a place of worship. For you to eliminate all signs of Christianity you must eliminate America…from sea to shining sea. I will pray openly and pray that we will return to sanity and our Navy Chaplains are not told that Christ is not welcome in their homily; that our public buildings are not desecrated by the removal of our true and only heritage by those few non believers who join in the evil mission to transform my country.

The preservation of our religious freedom was so important to our founders that it was the first order of business among the Amendments to the Constitution. Amendment 1 states forthrightly with no ambiguous language, as follows:

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” Nowhere are the forefathers concerned with the separation of church and state. Without question their reverence and faith were prominently displayed on public buildings, their private and official writings and speeches and in their hearts so represented.

You are invited but not commanded to join the prayerful majority; but cease and desist in your wanton desire to command me to join you in your blasphemy. You divide this nation and belie its fundamental, inseparable reliance on our Creator; without Whom this nation shall surely perish.
