The world sees us as Americans. We should do the same.

As we approach the Jewish Holiday of Hanukkah, the festival of lights, we should all contemplate the parallels between the original reason for the holiday and the forces Israel is facing over 2000 years later. In ancient Syria the Jewish religion was outlawed and Jews were ordered to worship Greek Gods. A massacre followed and Judea’s holy Second Temple was desecrated with the sacrificing of pigs on an alter dedicated to a Greek God within the Temple walls.

Hanukkah celebrates the rebuilding of the Second Temple.

Today the Muslim Brotherhood is sworn to annihilate Jews, destroy Israel and rededicate a Mosque in Jerusalem. America has shown little interest in supporting Israel’s sovereignty as The Muslim Brotherhood has gained more influence and military ability in the Middle East and the United Nations grants observer statehood to Palestinians. The assault on Judaism is renewed and more openly declared as the Arab Spring, endorsed and encourage by America, produces more Muslim Brotherhood governments intent on destroying Israel.

The Festival of Lights lasts eight days and I would like to wish Jews the world over a happy Hanukkah with the added wish that they will soon vanquish their enemies and live in peace in Israel and wherever they reside.

Now is the time for men of good will to come to the aid of Israel and show unity with our fellow citizens of all religious, racial and ethnic backgrounds. We are Americans first. In the 21st Century anti Semitism must be routed out and condemned if we are to be remembered as a civilized era.

 Group hug.
